The Great Wall and old town of Linhai
Linhai, meaning “close to the sea”, is the oldest of the three cities combined to form Taizhou. During the Jin Dynasty, in 402 AD, a city wall was built to defend Linhai, a precursor of the much larger and famous Great Wall of China in the north. The wall has been reconstructed, allowing visitors to stroll along much of its top and gaze over the surrounding woods and neighborhoods. A nearby street (Ziyang Street) preserves the traditional architecture of Linhai.
Shenxianju
This area of Xianju National Park contains spectacular geological formations and relatively undisturbed natural forest. A walk of more than 10 km with about 1382 m of elevation gain on a paved path takes one up a cascading stream to huge outcrops, cliffs, and vistas.
